JJAMD promotes education at all levels on the importance of healthy jaw joints and their relationship to total body health and promotes the prevention of TMJ Disorders.

Fosters patient advocacy and encourages the formation of TMJ self-help groups.

Sponsors and conducts independent research from the Patients' Perspective and advocates for basic scientific TMJ research.

Encourages the medical profession to "rejoin the jaw joints to all other joints in the body"

Believes that TMJ is largely preventable through appropriate awareness,

education, and research.

JJAMD always promotes "Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness" throughout the year. In addition, we celebrate each month of November as "Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness Month" introduced in 1997 by Congressman Barney Frank in the Congress of the United States.
