Surgeon General to Discuss Premature Births and Health Literacy at NLM

Meeting

 

Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona will begin his week-long dialogue on

prematurity and the importance of health literacy in sustaining healthy

pregnancy and childbirth at a speech before the National Library of Medicine

in Bethesda, tomorrow February 10.  Dr. Carmona will address the NLM Board

of Directors tomorrow, then on Monday February 16, will appear live on

Discovery Health's television broadcast "Birth Day Live!"

 

"There are many things that pregnant women and women who are intending to

become pregnant need to consider in order to provide the best chance for a

healthy baby," Dr. Carmona said.  "This next week we'll discuss some of

these things and witness the miracle of birth live from the bedside."
